Metal tool boards: For metal tool
boards, we highly recommend the Wall Control brand. We had investigated these
several years ago, when they were first being developed, but declined them at
that time because of the hook design. We are glad to announce that the hook
design has been corrected so that the hooks no longer wobble side to side, and
now fit the board the way they should. Also, these boards are made right here in
the United States.
Their selection of boards and attachments is
greater than anyone we have seen. The boards come in many different sizes, as
well as colors, and also kits for specific needs. A unique thing about their
boards is that many of them are available in both slotted (to fit their own
brand of hooks) as well as standard 1/4-inch holes (so that you can use many of
the standard wire pegboard hooks you may already have) all on the same board!
On the boards we tested, we found that the
slotted hooks will not fall off the board like so many of the cheaper wire
pegboard hooks, and yet can be easily "lifted" straight up and off to
make changes. Because the slotted hooks have TWO hook feet, they will not come
unhooked accidentally when taking tools from the board. This is a great
advantage over single wire hooks.

"Composite" tool boards: Everyone has
different needs, and must decide for themselves what kind of tool board works
best for them. Some people may need a complete system, while some people may
want to upgrade from the generic Masonite pegboard and use pegboard hooks that
they already have on hand, and the best plastic/composition tool board we have
seen for that use is the Bulldog brand.
The Bulldog brand
tool boards have holes that go "through" the boards, just like
pegboard, but combine that convenience with a nice border that also serves as a
frame and spacer, so they are ready to hang and use. As always, this
is only a small representation of what's available. Feel fee to search the site
