About Us

John & Sharon Abert, formerly of northern Indiana, now reside in beautiful Cherokee Village, AR, the first planned retirement community in the country (est. 1955). It has about 15,000 acres, with seven man-made lakes, two golf courses, and two beautiful community centers. It is also the largest city in Sharp County, which is located about 50 miles east of Mountain Home, and about 120 miles NNE of Little Rock.

John & Sharon decided to leave "snow country" (Northern Indiana) in 1992 and move to their vacation/retirement home at Cherokee Village. In 1994 they decided to try Mesa, AZ for the winter, but fell in love with the area, and stayed for ten years!  While there they got involved with the internet, and started their own company, Azgrand Internet Marketing (http://azgrand.com), in early 1999. The name seemed to fit the location, as even a small business on the web can appear "as grand" as any of the larger companies. 

While in the Phoenix Valley, they also attended several seminars sponsored by Internet Marketing Center, and attended Ebay University. They also attended one of Ken McCarthy's "System" seminars in Chicago.

Their first "big" venture was to acquire 18 online stores, carrying over a million products, but when the one single supplier for all changed marketing methods, they had to start all over with finding their own products to sell. That taught them a couple of good lessons (1) never put all your eggs in one basket, and (2) always have multiple streams of income.

In 2004, they acquired a distributorship with Ernst tool organization products and built that into the largest full-line stocking distributorship of its kind in the world at Toolsorter.com, until they dropped that line in January of 2008. It has not been economically feasible to run a "warehouse" operation, for many reasons. However, as they can find other suppliers to provide those or similar tool products, and continue to build their offerings from other sources, the business will continue to expand.

Azgrand Internet Marketing is a business that they plan to run well into the future. They are also involved in many other avenues (including Ebay), and other products as well, under various web URLs, and even other businesses.

The single most important thing that has made their businesses successful is the importance they place on customer service. The first thing they do when an order comes in is to acknowledge that with an email to the customer, thanking the customer for their purchase, and letting them know whether they have all of the items in stock, and when they expect to ship (nearly always within 24 hours). Then the customer gets another email after their product is shipped, to let them know the shipping method, give them a tracking number, and even the size of the package, so they know what to expect. 

Both Sharon and John despise the mindless (and many times meaningless) messages kicked out by autoresponders, so to date they haven't started using one. Their emails have always been personally written. They answer each and every email they receive (within hours). This may have to change as their business grows, but they are going to hang onto this very important factor in their service for as long as they can.

Each item will have it's own shipping policies automatically calculated by the payment processor. This will make it much easier for international customers to place orders, and more fair for all.
